We are providing programmes for basic skills development by working with local schools and community to offer the wide variety of opportunities in sports and leisure at the affordable prices. We are improving performance by offering sports and other activities in a structured way to help experience the activity in ‘real’ conditions, and developing excellence by utilising the services of our experienced staff, coaches, sports contractors, the local SSCO’s and Council Sports to make our facility available for the wider community and all sports enthusiasts. |
![]() | We are officially supported by the ECB as a 'centre of excellence' for developing the game of indoor cricket. Working closely with the ECB and the 8 other Indoor Centre's around the country we aim to develop this version of the game. We are current holders of the Men's National League Championship and our U19 team we runners up and will be contending for the title again this year 2011. Many of our Centre players are off to the World Cup of Indoor Cricket in South Africa this October representing England. the team has been training at our facility over the summer. |
![]() | With England Netball we helping to deliver their government backed 'Back to Netball' programme through our Centre. Sponsored by Canary Wharf Group and started in August 2011, we are delivering 4 free Back to netball sessions per week over a 6 week period, which should see over 100 players getting back into the game. We offer a sustainable approach at our centre by offering as an exit route an option to join an the outlet route the option to carry into one of our many popular in-house netball leagues. |
![]() | Due to Commence in late 2011, working with England Badminton we are set to develop Badminton at our Facility and offer the Government endorsed 'Badders in the City course' and the No Strings Badminton Franchise. This will be the start of a long term commitment to our community by offering a Badminton club run out of the Facility. |
![]() | Throughout the summer of 2011, we have supported the London Ambulance Brigade who has been training at Play On Community sports to prepare for an attempt at the longest game of Football Ever. Under strict rules, this should go down as a Guinness World Record and in the weekend of 10th September they managed an incredible 43 hours. All proceeds are going to children’s charity, The London Ambulance Brigade are still tallying up the proceeds total. |
![]() | One of the unique points to softball and is that it is an ideal, recreational sport for student socialising between males and females. It is the intention to use this programme to bring students together in a recreational and social environment, thereby developing a stronger FE/HE softball community in East London. The Sportivate Hit the Pitch softball sessions will lead to the formation of a local Hit he Pitch league containing new FE and HE teams. This will be connected to BSUK's HE and FE interventions and as identified in the BSUK and Pro-Active East London Core Services Agreement. The 9 week programme will enable students to take part in leagues at our Facility. |
![]() | London Youth's Sport Development programme has been organising sporting events and competitions at the grass roots level for young Londoners for over 100 years. With their newly developed capacity building programme, Getting Ready for the Games and Beyond. Working with Us, London Youth will be using our facility for a wide Variety sports events. Scheduled to commence in February 2012 at Play On community sports is the London youth Tag Rugby Tournament. |
![]() | Cricket For Change uses Cricket to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals and communities and for the last 30 years we have used our unique cricket programmes to help young people, in particular, make positive choices about their lives and to help them feel good about themselves. We are a regular host to Cricket for Change and have many Cricket tournaments prepared in the pipeline for 2011/2012. |
![]() | Since our partnership with Pro-Active East London, we have been working much more closely with Tower Hamlets Council to help the community take advantage of what our facility can offer. Over the recent months we have begun multiple initiatives with support of tower Hamlets. We are helping deliver the Government Supported 'Run' programme by establishing a social, community running club at our Facility. We will also be supporting the 'Run Jump Throw' Programme and developing a weekly Women's only session allowing the participants to partake in sports and activities that they wouldn’t normally get the opportunity to do in a comfortable friendly environment. |
![]() | We are working with England Handball to increase participation in the sport, firstly by establishing Handball coaching courses run from our facility. We have offered our facility to the London teams for training who have been using our facility during the summer 2011. Level 1 coaching courses will be held in the weekends, and we will look to hold local borough school tournaments. |
![]() | With Rounders England will hopefully see Rounders being played out of our centre on a social, and professional level. We aim to partner with Rounders England and help them achieve their objective to get as many people playing Rounders as possible, both socially and competitively. This is a great sports for people of all ages and abilities, and we offer the environment to match. |
![]() | In September 2011, with Morgan Stanley we hosted a 32 team football tournament to raise money for the Kids Company Foundation. Organised by Morgan Stanley and Managed by us we all managed to raise money for a good cause. |
![]() | We are currently in discussions with the FA to develop London based Futsol Leagues out of our centre. Throughout 2012 we will also aim to develop and run coaching clinics supported by the FA that will include Refereeing, Child Protection, First Aid and more. |
![]() | Our Local community outdoor cricket club! Island Community Cricket Club uses our facility in the off season to run cricket leagues and keep their cricket skills sharp. We help them to deliver their objectives in Cricket development by hosting tournaments, leagues and development sessions at our Centre. |
![]() | This winter 2011/2012 will see our biggest participation levels of our Middlesex Cricket junior leagues. The leagues that we will be running are Middlesex Central Area Indoor Cricket League for U11s, U13s and U15s boys. |
![]() | To help support our community we took part in an sports awareness campaign managed by ELBA and Pro-Active East London. Giving local kids the opportunity to play Cricket, Netball, Football, Dodgeball and Hockey, we took what Play On Community Sports can do to the local park and entertained the locals. |
![]() | Official partners with THSSP, we host many events an community initiatives with THSSP. For a second year running we hosted the TH Neighbourhood Games, part of the ‘Stepping Stones’ Programme. With 32 teams, comprising of 7-11 year olds we saw over 700 children partaking in sports ranging from football, hockey, basketball, squash, boxing, karate, gymnastics, rowing, kayaking, street-dance, tag rugby and judo. We will be supporting an U19 development cricket squad and sponsoring them for our ion-house leagues and the 2012 National League. We will also continue to develop our relationship and host many sports events that they have scheduled in their calendar. |
