Misconduct Guidelines for players
Please do not forget that all leagues at Play On Sports are SOCIAL LEAGUES. Abuse toward other players or the umpire will not be tolerated so please respect each other. The above penalties will be imposed for any abuse.
There may be occasions where you will disagree with an umpires decision, but please note that the umpires decision is final. Get on with the game in the meantime and then feel free to ask the umpire questions at the end of the quarter or at the end of the game. It is difficult for the umpire to answer questions during the game. The umpires are all there manage the games as well as to help with understanding the rules.
Misconduct Guidelines for Umpires (players also take note)
Umpires must do their best to ensure the game is played in a fun and social way. Although games may be competitive, it is a social league. Umpires should play advantage but also bear in mind to be over cautious on contact. Remember the nets are not to be used to gain an advantage and take into consideration that it maybe the first time some players have played this style of netball with nets.
Confrontations should be dealt with using the following steps;
1) The umpire will call the Captains together and tell them to speak to their team to 'cool' things down or, if the confronatation involves the Captain the Umpire will call the Vice Captain of the team and warn them to 'cool' things down. Both are an official warning.
2) If a confrontation continues the umpire can send a player or players off for a period of 3 goals or the remainder of the match.
3) In extreme cases the umpire can send a player or players off for a period of 3 goals or the remainder of the match without an initial warning.
4) If a confrontation between players occurs the umpire has the ability to ask players to change positions if they believe this will help defuse the situation.
5) At the discretion of the umpire the game can be stopped and Captains briefed by the umpire about behavior.
6) A team can be penalised and or a game forfeited if abuse from the sideline continues.
